Kneepads Harris lives in a very sheltered, privileged world.

Get this. Makes you wonder how long it’s been since she’s had to do something so plebeian as making her own copies.

Harris: Voter ID Could Mean People Have to Copy ID and Send It In and People Live in Areas Where There Isn’t a Kinko’s or OfficeMax
“I don’t think that we should underestimate what that could mean. Because in some people’s mind, that means, well, you’re going to have to Xerox or photocopy your ID to send it in to prove that you are who you are. Well, there are a whole lot of people, especially people who live in rural communities, who don’t — there’s no Kinko’s, there’s no OfficeMax near them.

I suppose they could go to a library, which typically have copiers available. And I still see them in big stores. And offhand, I can’t remember any nondeployment work location that didn’t have a photocopier available somewhere; I would expect that most employers would be willing to let their employees use it for something as important as a civic duty to vote.

Or one could ask a friend or neighbor who has a combo scanner/printer. Personally, I have two; both scrounged when people upgraded and threw the old ones away. That’s how common the things are. These are flatbed scanners, so I sold  my old roller feed scanner at a yard sale, for five bucks if I recall correctly.

County or city clerks might do it, too. I’ve gotten copies made that way.

In more than 40 years, I’ve always been able to get to a copier when needed. It used to be that I might have to drive somewhere, or walk a few blocks. But these days, one is sitting on my desk beside me.

If folks can somehow manage to copy their annual tax paperwork (they do keep file copies, right?), I figure they can manage one more copy once every couple of years.

Added: And who uses the term “xerox” anymore? That’s the first time I’ve heard it in years. And Kinko’s?

There hasn’t been a “Kinko’s” for 15 years. And 13 years since it was even Fedex Kinko’s.

Has she made a copy herself since she was blowing Willie Brown?
