More On the Possible Fraudulent Medical Bill

Recap: On 2/25/2022, I received a bill from “Sound Physicians” on behalf Cogent Healthcare of Jacksonville. Thee were “issues” with the bill: billed services not rendered, vague “Initial Hospital Care” alleged provided on the date of my hospital discharge.

I called this outfit, and got some person giving her name as “Michelle.” She told me the bill was for physician services,” and when I asked what physician, she told me “Sao F. Po.” To the best of my recollection I never met this person, and that doctor’s name does not appear in my medical records.

A similar “Po, Saw” does appear. Exactly once, ordering a magnesium screen. But I don’t recall meeting that named person either. Possibly he based that order on a records review.

SP’s “Michelle” said she would send me a “detailed” bill that would explain what the “Initial Hospital Care” — supposedly worth $500, more than UF Health actually billed me for an entire hip replacement — included.

Today, 3/4/2022, I received that “detailed” bill. It removes the charge for the nonexistent smoking cessation “service,” but it still includes “Initial Hospital Care.”

What is “Initial Hospital Care”? I still don’t know because the “detailed” bill has zero detail.

Fuck it. If Some Doctor Po wants me to pay him for unexplained services, he himself can explain those services. To me, or to Georgia and Florida AGs, HHS, and USPS Postal Inspection Service.

  1. I had a similar situation, once. I went to the university hospital for surgery. A doctor was going patient to patient in to patient, taking us to a side room, and checking blood pressure. Later, I received a bill from a doctor for “pre surgical screening”. He wasn’t working for the hospital, apparently, just milking people for cash. I refused to pay, and told my insurance company exactly why.
