That’s about the only way to explain the “Federal Firearm Licensing Act”.
Traditionally, Dims have avoided gun people control bills when elections are coming. It’s a campaign killer (right, Duke Nukem?). Certainly the money is on the same thing being the case this cycle.
But if you have no intention of allowing fair and honest elections (again), what’s the harm in pushing a bill to license gun owners register all firearms and owners via a “may issue” federal licensing system?

Well, Cory Booker isn’t the sharpest tool in the shed, despite his educational creds (Stanford/Yale). There are bills like this that get written and introduced, that I honestly believe are mere trial balloons, to see if they can get away with it. I’m sure this is an acceptable concept in urban New Jersey areas, but any Democrat with a primarily suburban/rural district wouldn’t touch this third rail on a bet. I predict it dies in committee, but Mr. Booker will
chirp about introducing it on all his campaign material.
Maybe we should ask Mr. Booker whether he supports voter ID ?
After all, if arms are a right, and voting is a right, shouldn’t the same
requirements apply ? I would suggest, for the Federal Voting ID, that every prospective voter have a pulse, a current legal address, can produce last year’s 1040 showing you paid taxes, and , as a bonus, have an IQ above room temperature.
