[Update]Halyna Hutchins Medical Examiner’s Report

Update: Got it. Had it, didn’t realize it.

Media reporting on just what that report actually says is inconsistent and vague. And no one seems to be linking to the report itself. I have a couple of request filed, but official channels hate to cooperate with little folk like me.

If anyone has a link to the report — the official report, not media take our word for it, this is what it says — I’d appreciate a copy.

Thanks.

  1. I was surprised (/sarc) to find that the FBI literally broke this pistol
trying to get it to fire “accidentally.” Anyone familiar with these
old single-action revolvers can deduce what went wrong. I have one
in my cabinet right now (SA , no transfer bar). There are three detents on the hammer : load, half-cocked, and fully cocked. It is possible to hold the trigger and pull the hammer back, and the hammer will hop over the load and half-cock detents. If a proper pre-use inspection had been performed by ANY ONE of the FOUR people who handled that pistol that day, the live round would NOT have been in the chamber, and Ms. Hutchins would be down for breakfast today. This is why I throw up a little in my mouth when anyone from Hollywood starts pontificating about political issues, particularly guns. Actors get paid to pretend to be something they’re not; actual knowledge, skill, and discipline aren’t required. News people who amplify the actors’ idiotic opinions aren’t any better.

Even if not inspected, if Baldwin had…

      1. handled it as if it were loaded, Hutchins would be alive.

      2. kept it pointed in a safe direction, Hutchins would be alive.

      3. kept his finger off the trigger, Hutchins would be alive.

Any one of those rules observed would have saved Hutchins’ life. Alec Baldwin broke them all. Other idiots involved might face charges, but Baldwin absolutely should.

At a bare minimum, he should face an involuntary manslaughter charge (for Hutcchins’ death) and an assault charge for the director’s wounding.

But if he wants to plead not guilty due to mental deficiency, I might settle for the lifetime prohibited person status, knowing he’ll also be sued into oblivion.

But it remains to be seen if New Mexico authorities will even do the right thing, or protect Baldwin, and future film production income for the state.
