I Wonder How Cost Effective This Is

The US shot down another mystery “high altitude” object today; this one over Canada.

The object in the Alska shoot-down was described simply as a cylinder the size of a small car, with on obvious surveillance equipment.

Mylar balloon?

The Canada “object” hasn’t been described at all yet.

The first big balloon/payload that crossed much of the US, until was downed off the Carolina coast, was reported taken down with an AIM-9X air-to-air missile. Depending on the source, the AIM-9X runs well  in excess of $400,000 apiece.

At least one report said an AIM-9X was used on the Alaska shoot-down, too.

At this point, if I were China, I’d be releasing a bunch of cheap mylar balloons into airstreams that with take them to the US…

…and watch the US take out ten dollar balloons with half-million buck missiles.

I think the AIr Force needs to look into a better way to take out a balloon.

  1. Yes…we are “killing flies with hammers” by using half million dollar missiles to go after balloons. Also the Fed Gov is more than happy to put on this show. It’s a convenient distraction. Keeps people from paying attention to their ongoing crime spree. It’s “Hey! Look at this UFO over here!”
