So who in the Secret Service is responsible for checking the perimeter?

An interesting bit about the wanna-be Trump assassin:

“According to federal prosecutors, the sniper nest with two backpacks, an AK-47 and Go-Pro was set up 12 hours before the foiled plot.”

No one noticed him there for twelve hours?

  1. Great job , Dick Tracy.

First it was an SKS (Chinese design), not an AK47 ( Russian design).
Neither rifle would be my selection for long-range engagement.

The paparazzi knew about the selected ambush site, and used it for photography — it was not a closely guarded secret. The fact that this clown traveled from Hawaii effectively resolves the “premeditation” aspect of this event. Sixteen hours of crap hanging on a fence could
easily be construed as a homeless “hide” rather than a sniper’s nest.

Hat tip to the USSS agent that fired upon the assassin, causing him to scramble. I will give him the benefit of the doubt, presuming he/she MISSED ON PURPOSE, to (a) spur immediate protectee evac, and (b) not kill an innocent if his/her situational assessment was wrong.
