I Don’t Think Thelma Thinks

I was doing a web search and noted this,

That kinda grabbed my attention, and my morbid sense of humor forced me to click and read.

Oh. My.

What Is The Freezing Point Of Oxygen?
The freezing point of oxygen is about 32 degrees Celsius.

What is the melting for oxygen?
The melting point of water is about 273.16 degrees Fahrenheit. The melting point of oxygen is about 232.8 degrees Fahrenheit.

What is the color of oxygen?
The color of oxygen is blue.

Can diamond be burned?
Yes, diamond can be burned. Diamonds are made of carbon and hydrogen, which are both combustible. When they are heated, the carbon and hydrogen combine and create heat. This heat causes the diamond to glow, and when it is put in the flame, the diamond is melted and then burned.

Why is oxygen blue as a liquid?
The color of oxygen is blue because the molecule of oxygen is a blue color.

Who discovered oxygen?
The person who discovered oxygen was a scientist named Nicholas-Jacques Conte.

Is liquid oxygen flammable?
Yes, liquid oxygen is flammable.

Is oxygen magnetic?
There is no scientific evidence to suggest that oxygen is magnetic.

Why did NASA use pure oxygen?
NASA needed a way to cool the spacecraft during launch and during the journey to the moon. Pure oxygen was the only solution that could be found.

Nothing on that site seems to indicate parody, nor that they might be cross-posting from an alternate universe with differing physical properties.

At this point, I’m considering the possibility that that comes from a public school science teacher.

This May Be Twitter’s First Ever Profitable Quarter

Wisco Dave sent me a link to an online auction.

Twitter: Online Auction Sale Featuring Surplus Corporate Office Assets of Twitter!
Sale Featuring Kitchen Equipment, Electronics, Furniture, Memorabilia & More!

Just for example, there’s an sxpresso machine, LA MARZOCCO LINEA 1EE SEMI-AUTO ESPRESSO MACHINE; bids open at $25.

It retails for $9,610. No wonder Twitter never turned a profit.

I wondered if it was real, or a gag. A search of the site shows the seller, an outfit specializing in liquidating excess or surplus corporate assets, has been running auctions for at least 11 years. Amusingly, the oldest auction they ran was for Solyndra stuff.

Anyway, I found a news report about this auction, so it appears to be for real. It says that HPG is ” facilitating the sale,” so it sounds like a consignment auction, meaning Twitter could see its first profitable quarter if bidding goes well.

FBI: They’re Carolinas, There Were Guns…

So they must be connected, right?

FBI seeks links between power grid attacks in North, South Carolina
The FBI is currently seeking potential links between recent attacks on North Carolina power stations and a separate incident in South Carolina that occurred days later.

Two Duke Energy power substations in Moore County, N.C., sustained damage from gunfire last weekend, leaving tens of thousands without power for several days. A separate gun-related incident on Wednesday saw an individual with a rifle open fire roughly one half of a mile away from a third Duke Energy power station in South Carolina. There were neither injuries nor power outages as a result of the South Carolina episode.

Kershaw County Sheriff Lee Boan said on Thursday that there was no evidence the gunman had aimed for the power station. “I currently have no reason to believe this shooting incident has anything to do with an attack on the hydro station,” NBC News reported him as saying. “As of right now, I’m just not seeing the connection between the two.”

Half a mile away. No indications he shot at the substation. Nothing happened. Maybe Sheriff Boan is smart enough to realize this is deer season in South Carolina. That’s currently what I’m putting my money on.

THAT Narrows Things Down A Bit

Not.

North Carolina power outage: Police request search warrants, FBI wants cell phone records in hunt for suspects
Police in North Carolina say they are seeking approval for search warrants, while the FBI is pursuing cell phone records, in the hunt for the person or persons responsible for opening fire at two electrical substations in Moore County over the weekend, knocking out power to 45,000.

But I thought this statement from Chief Deputy Maness was the kicker.

“We’re looking at everybody from all walks of life who had the expertise and the knowledge of the electrical grid and what could disable it,” Maness said.

That narrows it down to every electrician, electronics tech, outside plant tech, and anyone who knows that shooting transformers does bad things even if they don’t know why it does.

Best of luck with that, deputy.

Added: To be fair, I did see one report of the type of damage that might indicate someone who knows a little bit about transmission transformers. But it could also have been dumb luck. If I decided to take up a life of grid sabotage, I probably wouldn’t have bothered doing it that way, so I’m inclined to think “dumb luck.”

TZP Column: “I never want to hear the words ‘Gun Control’ come from Biden’s mouth again after this one.”

When Gun Control Doesn’t Matter
You’ve probably heard that the Gropin’ Joe Xiden administration just freed Viktor “Merchant of Death” Bout in exchange for Russia releasing a drug-using basketball player who appears to hate — or at least seriously disrespect — America. PJ Media shares some history of Bout’s activities that landed him in prison.

The guy would illegally sell anything to anyone, and yes, it appears to have gotten Americans killed. Thus, the “Death” part of the monicker.

This sums up the situation succinctly and clearly.

TZP Column: Voluntary Forfeiture Of Second Amendment Rights

VOLUNTARY FORFEITURE OF SECOND AMENDMENT RIGHTS
Democrats have pushed yet another troubling gun control bill through the House Judiciary committee, setting it up for a floor vote. The bill is H.R.8361 – Preventing Suicide Through Voluntary Firearm Purchase Delay Act.

This proposed law would create a new NICS database of people prohibited from obtaining firearms. Not criminals, or those adjudicated mentally ill; it’s to be a database of those stupid enough to voluntarily surrender their 2A rights. OK, perhaps those crazy enough to beg Daddy Government to protect them from themselves should not have guns. But you won’t see me “volunteering” for this. More on that point in a moment.

Your Biannual Reminder Of Why The 17th Amendment Was A Bad Idea

It’s being reported that Warnock won the Georgia run-off. Practically, yes. Officially, no; at least one county is still officially accepting more ballots for three more days.

This…

The Senate of the United States shall be composed of two Senators from each State, chosen by the Legislature thereof…

Became this…

The Senate of the United States shall be composed of two Senators from each State, elected by the people thereof…

…meaning most of my state effectively has NO senate representation.

For Whatever It’s Worth, I Voted

Correction: I cast a ballot in the Georgia run-offs. With Dominion, Bog only knows if I voted.

Or for who.

As usual, they hand out stickers after you cast the ballot. Thye used to say, “I Voted.” Not anymore.

“I Secured My Vote.”

I have near-zero confidence that I actually secured my vote. And this probably the last time I’ll bother trying.

Grinches

This whiner oughta visit my town.

Minnesota couple says anonymous note from ‘Grinch’ stole their holiday spirit
However, someone tried to dim his light last week. In a red envelope resembling a holiday card, someone mailed an anonymous letter, writing “your yard decorations (if you call it that) are very much an eyesore for the neighborhood.”

I don’t make a point of going out to look at Christmas displays, but lately I’ve had some nighttime errands to run.

Up the street is Camo Santa: a giant, inflatable Santa dressed in camouflage. I happen to know that resident is a serious hunter, so that makes sense.

Across the street from that, my sister spotted Trailer Park Santa. Two, actually. One Santa in a travel trailer, and one parked next to it in an RV.

My sister thought that was pretty good. But then I found…

Santa Claus. In a speedboat. Being pulled by giant fish. Green, glowing fish.
