I Knew It: Trump’s Fault!

Yes, Transportation Secretary Buttplug managed to blame the East Palestine train wreck on Trump.

“We’re constrained by law on some areas of rail regulation (like the braking rule withdrawn by the Trump administration in 2018 because of a law passed by Congress in 2015), but we are using the powers we do have to keep people safe. And of course, I’m always ready to work with Congress on furthering (or in some cases, restoring) our capacity to address rail safety issues.”

Actually, the proposed rule was withdrawn in 2017. But the why and who…

The why.

The U.S. Department of Transportation on December 4 announced that it will withdraw a 2015 regulation requiring the use of electronically controlled pneumatic (ECP) brakes on certain trains carrying flammable liquids, on the grounds that the safety benefits were inconclusive and the cost-benefit analysis was negative.

The who.

In October 2016, GAO found fault with DOT’s original calculation of the benefits of the rule, and TRB reported two months ago that it was “unable to make a conclusive statement concerning the emergency performance of ECP brakes relative to other braking systems.”

You may recall that Trump was not in office in 2016. Or 2015, when the law was passed and signed. That was some Dim named Obama, whose veep was…

Gropin’ Joe.

But… Waaah! Trump!

MSU SHOOTER: FELON? PROHIBITED?
I keep seeing conflicting reports about the legal status of the Michigan State chumbucket. This one is typical.

Could this have been prevented by the state simply following existing law, instead of gleefully embracing it as a chance to pass more victim-disarming people-control laws?

TEXAS TO RAISE FIREARM PURCHASE AGE?
That’s what state Senator Roland Gutierrez wants to do.

In case you wondered, Gutierrez is a Dimwit-ocrat; and the Dims are being very slow to catch on to the nuances of BRUEN, and the new original playing field.

Feinstein’s Mind Is GONE

Today, she officially announced that she’s retiring at the end of her current term; she will not seek reelection.

And promptly forgot announcing that.

However, moments later, Feinstein disputed her office’s statement on her retirement.

“I haven’t made that decision. I haven’t released anything,” Feinstein said to reporters.

“We put out the statement,” one of the senator’s staffers said.

“You put out the statement? I didn’t know they put it out,” Feinstein said.

I suspect the Dims will force her out ASAP, so Newsom can appoint a temp to fill out her term. My guess is that it will Adam Schiff

What’s Missing?

I woke up this morning to news of another “mass shooting” (parentheses because the definition is ever-changing).

Hmm…

ABC: “…the 43-year-old suspect…”

CNN: “The gunman was a 43-year-old man…”

NBC” “The suspect, a 43-year-old man…”

The actual description from the police:

The suspect is a Black male, shorter in stature, red shoes, jean jacket, wearing a baseball cap that is navy with a lighter brim.

To their… almost… credit, CBS has a slightly more complete description than other major news sites:

Officials had previously described the suspect as a Black male, short, wearing red shoes, a jean jacket and ball cap, and released photos of the suspect.

“Amost;” because they buried that 11 paragraphs down in the story. After giving this description: “…a 43-year-old with no known affiliation with the school…”

You might say that, since the killer is dead now, his complete description no longer matters. But I’m looking at stories that were published before he was found, and merely updated. They never gave the complete description even when he was on the loose.

If Jean-Pierre Says S

Jean-Pierre Says ‘There Is No Indication Of Aliens’ After UFOs Shot Down
“I just wanted to make sure we address this from the White House. I know there have been questions and concerns about this, but there is no — again, no — indication of aliens or extraterrestrial activity with these recent takedowns,” she said at Monday’s press briefing, drawing laughter from the gallery.

About the only times she’ll make a definite statement is when she’s clearly lying on behalf of Xiden.

So….

Greys? Reptilians? Goa’uld? Something else?

Gas Stove Ban

With the feds clearly wanting to ban gas stoves, I thought I’d take a look at that supposedly damning report on the evils of the kitchen critter.

I never made it past page 9, where I found this.

In homes without gas stoves, average CO levels are between 0.5 and 5 parts per million (ppm). Homes with gas stoves that are properly adjusted are often between 5 and 15 ppm whereas levels near poorly adjusted stoves can be twice as high: 30 ppm or higher.

So homes with properly adjusted gas stoves have CO levels equal to or below typical outdoor urban air: 10-50 PPM.

Sounds like everyone should have a gas range, for safety’s sake.

Reporters

About that whatsit shot down over Alaska…

F35 pilots who shot down mystery airborne object over Alaska said it ‘interfered with sensors’ and had ‘no identifiable propulsion system’
Fighter pilots who shot down a mysterious floating object over Alaska have revealed that it ‘interfered with their sensors’ and had ‘no identifiable propulsion system.’

That’s a dubious report. Shot down by F-35s? Who knows, because lower down in the story…

The object was taken down by an F-22 using an A9X missile out of Joint Base Elmendorf–Richardson in Anchorage.

I could see a fly-by with F-35s, followed by a strike by the F-22. But Joint Base Elmendorf–Richardson has F-22s, and apparently not F-35s. Eielson AFB has F-35s, so they probably came from there.

Either way, someone admitting that our high-tech fighters sensors were so easily jammed is somewhat concerning.

Several officials also said the object shattered into pieces after being struck by the missile, adding to the mystery of what the object truly is.

A US official revealed the pilots who intercepted the object said it had a cylindrical shape and no observable surveillance equipment attached.

That’s odd. I wouldn’t expect a balloon to “shatter,” though a lack of propulsion would be normal enough. No one seems to be saying much about the whatsit maneuvering, but specifically calling out the lack of propulsion systems suggests that it was.

Yet another inconsistency in this story is just where that thing went down.

The Pentagon has now launched a recovery operation to collect the debris from the surface of the frozen waters off Alaska.

…or…

Recovery teams are now ‘in the process of searching for and identifying debris on the ocean floor,’ US officials said.

Dear Reporters, please take the time to get your “facts” in order before rushing to get a incoherent scoop.
