I’m not sure if Arizona Secretary of State Katie Hobbs is missing the point, or hoping we do.

Katie Hobbs: “I am concerned about what happens when this report comes out because we know, number 1, the election that we certified – those certified results – are an accurate reflection of the will of the voters in Arizona and number 2, there’s nothing that can be done now to overturn the election even if this audit was valid.”
Let that sink in.
I’ll begin by noting that she seems to be assuming the Maricopa audit is going to show big problems. Duh; I wonder why?
Except for some conspiracy theorists, who don’t follow the law and judicial process, we don’t expect the election to be overturned. The Supreme Court has already declined challenges, calling it moot since the results were “certified.”
What we want, assuming audits show what I very strongly suspect, is for people to get angry enough to force changes in law — and personnel — to prevent this ever happening again.
And if people are sufficiently angry to start decorating light posts in certain counties…
I won’t cry over it, but I do discourage it. It’s too quick. I’d much rather seeing the people responsible for fraud and plain stupid mismanagement experiencing the joys of decades of miserable prison life. Don’t let them off easy.
Don’t let them throw just a few low level folks under the bus either. Look at scumbags like Georgia Secretary of State Raffensperger, who signed a consent decree agreeing to break state election laws on ballot harvesting, signature validation, and more. Remember that he approved disproportionate placement of ballot harvest boxes to favor one political party over another. That his own rep had informed him in writing of massive problems personally witnessed in Fulton County, yet claimed there were no problems and certified the election. Recall that Raffensperger lied about his call with Trump, and stupidly failed in his attempt to delete the evidence of his lie.
Remember that in violation of state law and the state constitution, Raffensperger allowed people to register after the general election and vote in the Senate run-offs.
Don’t forget Georgia Governor Kemp either. For a guy who was reluctantly supportive of audits when enough people screamed for them, he’s been strangely silent on it since the odd car crash that nearly killed his daughter.
And did anyone ever figure out where the unaccounted Zuckerbucks went?
