Heh. Fireworks tonight should be good.

Some neighbors dropped by to see if we minded if a lot of fireworks got set off. As if. We like fireworks.

Then she mentioned that three families had agreed to an informal competition tonight. This should be good; one of them always buys the good stuff. In large quantities.

And now I’m just waiting for it to get darker.

Another upside to this is that with all the smoke in the air, mosquitos usually seem to be suppressed for a few days after the Fourth. Nice area.

  1. Back in Silicon Valley, a few neighbors put on largish aerial fireworks displays, in blatant violation of state and local laws.
In our new neighborhood, many neighbors put on such displays, and more, and it’s all perfectly legal. We even joined in this year, on a smallish scale. (I’m just learning about the whole legal-consumer-fireworks thing.)
The neighbor with the large quantities of good stuff put on the show Friday night – I think he was a day or two early last year, too. Gets the rest of us motivated without stepping on our more modest efforts.
… For next year, I really need to build a carriage for a quarter-scale six pounder. Bought the tube and wheels long ago, and still haven’t done anything with them. Should make a fairly good boom, and a big cloud of smoke.
