I hope Neil Young will remember

A southern man don’t need him around anyhow

Spotify Takes Down Neil Young’s Music After His Joe Rogan Ultimatum
Spotify Technology SA has removed Neil Young’s music, the company confirmed Wednesday, as the folk-rock star isn’t wavering in his objections to Joe Rogan’s podcast.

My understanding is that while Spotify merely licensed crybaby’s music, they have an enforceable $100 million contract with Rogan. I suspect that 1) they make more money off Rogan than Young, and 2) Rogan would eat their lunch in court if they broke the contract.

Seems an easy decision.

  1. Well, THAT kinda burst my bubble. I was celebrating that a media company actually decided to cancel the cancel culture. Now you tell me that they were actually protecting their pocketbooks. In the end, though, it’s one less opportunity for Young to torture me with his vocal “skills” — sounds like a cat with its tail caught in a fanbelt.

    1. Oh, I suppose they might’ve have done it on principle.

But if I were a Spotify shareholder, I’d hope they were simply making good business decisions.

  2. That Lynyrd Skynyrd comeback is classic!
Neil does have a mean two note guitar solo and remember the Let’s Roll song after 9/11.
That was fake and phony just like everything else.
