I see Mountain Dew is introducing a line of “hard” beverages; alcoholic. Apparently it’s quite the new fad. Which I find amusing.
Back in the ’60s, when Mountain showed up in my area in Tennessee, we all knew where that name came from. And for the slower folk among us, the company made it pretty clear in early advertising.
‘Bout damned time they got back to their roots. Now we can stop spiking it.
They used to make fake can covers to put over your beer that looked like the logo from the factory.
Mountain Spew, Choke, Dr. Pooper, Schlepsi, a cousin got stopped and they didn’t even know that it was beer in the can!
Yeah, I remember those. I haven’t seen them in a long time. I suppose soft drinks have pretty much shifted to plastic bottles, so the fakes aren’t as convincing.
