Florida’s “Stand Your Ground” law is 776.012. That’s all well and good, but this wasn’t out in public. This was in the woman’s home; “Castle Doctrine” applies.

776.013 Home protection; use or threatened use of deadly force; presumption of fear of death or great bodily harm.
