I want to know the rest of the story on this one.

I have a scanner to monitor local police and fire. I hear the damnedest things sometimes. Like “Respond to XXX Shadowlawn for possible shark.” Could’ve been “shock,” but dispatch said it twice and I heard the “R” in there both times.

Shadowlawn is on neither the coast nor the river. SNL land shark?

But this evening we had a severe thunderstorm blow through; high winds, heavy rain, lots of lightning (the dog was terrified).

And an officer was dispatched to a home where…

Their front door blew open, so they started shooting.

I was doing dishes and missed some traffic, but I heard when the officer arrived.

I’m at the driveway. Tell them they can come out now, if they don’t have any weapons on them.

10-4. The female is coming out with a child.

I really want to know why they thought gunfire was the appropriate response to the door opening. I suspect drugs were involved one way or another.
