…I remember when showing up masked, with guns, and demanding money was still “armed robbery.”

Supposedly. ‘Bout damned time.
Judgement day for Alec Baldwin: Criminal charges in Rust shooting to be announced on Thursday morning – more than one year after Oscar-nominated actor accidentally shot dead cinematographer on set of western movie
The Santa Fe District Attorney’s Office is set to deliver a decision on Thursday about whether to press charges in the shooting death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, more than a year after lead actor Alec Baldwin accidentally shot her.
If Baldwin doesn’t face at least a § 30-2-3 Involuntary Manslaughter charge, you’ll know the fix is in. Negligent homicide should not be out of the question; but manslaughter is a slam dunk.
The dumbass amateur “armorer” needs to face a few charges as well. Tampering with evidence, for a start.
We’ll see.

Now there’s a push for a national minumum wage of $20 an hour.
But in a new book, author Rick Wartzman uses the story of Walmart to argue that corporate America – for all this change — is still paying workers less than it should.
[…]
To make the case, Wartzman uses the very same numbers Walmart cites with pride, including an average wage that’s now more than $17 dollars an hour – higher than the minimums in every state in America.
[…]
Seventeen dollars an hour works out to an average annual income of just under $29,000 a year, Wartzman says, when calculating the hours worked by Walmart employees.
Do the math. Calculate those hours. He’s whining that people aren’t making a “living wage”…
…on a single part-time job.
You want to see prices really go up? And employment to go down? Just abruptly raise the minimum wage to $20, and watch the layoffs. Should do wonders for the robotics industry<.a>, though

WORLD ECONOMIC FORUM UPDATE: John Kerry Says to Stop Climate Change We Need “Money, Money, Money, Money, Money, Money, Money”
“So how do we get there?” Kerry asked about keeping global climate goals alive. He answered, “Well, the lesson I’ve learned in the last year — I learned it as secretary of state and it has since been reinforced in spades, is money, money, money, money, money, money, money.”

Dave sent me this image.
Stelter? The guy who basically got canned by CNN for being too biased and pushing lies? CNN? Surely that’s a joke; because it seemed a bit over the top even for WEF.
Nope. Real.

Always read the fine print.
Always read the fine print. I saw a report on a bill filed in Massachusetts, HD 353.
[…]
Yes, and no. The bill does change some definitions in current law, specifically “Large capacity weapon”, any firearm, rifle or shotgun.” That would include assorted characteristics involving capacities and magazines.

SCOTUS NEEDS TO GET ITS PRIORITIES IN ORDER
No doubt regular TZP readers heard about the recent Supreme Court lack of a decision in ANTONYUK v. STEVEN NIGRELLI. For those who haven’t: Plaintiffs filed suit challenging New York’s recent, post-Bruen, weapons carry law, notably declaring a wide assortment of sensitive places where the state claims it can ban firearms.
The district court issed an injunction against enforcement of the ban pending full trial on the matter. The state appealed to the Second Circuit, which — for no particular reason — stayed the injunction.
Plaintiffs appealed to SCOTUS asking the Court to lift the stay. SCOTUS declined to do so.

Never forget that part.
Gropin’ Joe Xiden gave a little MLK speech today.
Biden’s MLK Speech: ‘Ban the Number of Bullets That Go in a Magazine’
Biden then said, “I love my right-wing friends who talk about the tree of liberty is watered with the blood of patriots. If you need to worry about taking on the federal government you need some F-15s. You don’t need an AR-15.”
The actual Jefferson quote is:
“And what country can preserve it’s liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.”
But his mind is gone:
Biden said, “I am going to get ‘assault weapons’ banned. I did it once and I’m going to do it again.”
Nope. Never happened, Gropin’ Joe. You got sales and imports of new so-called “assault weapons” banned. For civilians at least. For some reason the law specifically allowed the police to keep getting new evil, military-style weapons designed to kill as many as possible as quickly as possible. But you never banned a single existing firearm because people smarter than you knew what would happen if they tried.
“The sheer immorality of victim disarmament aside, one would hope every law enforcement officer out there would stop to consider all the possible ramifications of kicking in several million doors because the occupants are well armed.”
— Moi
And this:
He added, “And ban the number of bullets that go in a magazine.”
Try to parse that. A ban on “bullet” (psst, Joe, cartridges) restrictions. A ban on any cartridges in a magazine? What?
And those F-15s Biden thinks free Americans would need? Got em; or jet fighters anyway.
I’ll just drop one of my favorite Babylon Bee headlines here:
Then I’ll refresh memories of just how little it can take to take on “the government.”
Not a one of them needed and F-15.
I wonder what Martin Luther King, Jr. would think of a US president commemorating his birthday by threatening Americans lives with real, goverment weapons of war.

Time to dust off this Air Force classic again.
That was, honest to Bog, a real flyer for a real planed event to celebrate MLK day at Robins Air Force Base a few years ago. It got pulled pretty quickly.
I’ve long figured that some smartass sergeant like me convinced a PAO butterbar that this would be a good idea.
