Apparently FedEx simply sees misdeliveries as a write-off.

We just received a FedEx package. We didn’t order it. In fact, it’s at the wrong address. I recognize the intended delivery address, because this isn’t the first time this has happened.

But I wanted to do the right things. I called Fedex to report the misdelivery. Their phone menu actually has an option for deliveries to the wrong address. But as soon as you say you received someone else’s package…

“Sorry, we cannot help with that. Try calling again later.” -click-

It must be cheaper to write off the loss, than to have the driver stop by on his next daily swing through the neighborhood.

  1. I just take it upon my self to deliver errant USPS mail and packages, as well as packages from UPS and FEDEX that end up at my house. I can’t be bothered with getting the IDIOTS that screwed up the delivery the first time involved with getting it to the proper destination. All they have to do is read the damn label! Last week a FEDEX package was left at my house (#212) that clearly said #272. I didn’t look at at thinking it was sneakers for my wife. She came home at 9:30 PM and asked what I got. I told her it was hers, she looked at it and pointed out the misdelivery. Because of the late hour, I took it over to the neighbor’s the next evening after work, and the woman had already spent part of the day trying to find her package or get a replacement. She was happy to get it.

    1. This one wasn’t just delivered to the wrong street number; it’s the wrong road. With my hip in its current state, I can’t deliver this one to the right place.
